Fingerprint recognition for twofold security authorisation
Leave a CommentSome police forces in Wales have stopped recruiting new officers due to budget cut fears. Dyfed-Powys has suspended its next intake of officers while South Wales Police is filling officer vacancies but has frozen civilian posts. North Wales Police said it introduced a freeze on both officer and civilian recruitment in April and it would remain in place until at least the end of the financial year. This has led to concern over rising crime levels. Chief Constable Ian Arundale of Dyfed-Powys said: "There is an obvious risk that this could lead to an increase in crime both nationally and locally.”

The Federation of Small Businesses Wales said that its own research indicated that two thirds of small businesses have been a victim of crime costing them up to £3,000. Welsh policy chair for the FSB, Janet Jones, said: “The Government needs to step up and engage with this important sector of the community. It is paramount that the Government sets out the right local agenda to protect these firms. We cannot watch small businesses being repeatedly victimised and as a result forced to close. Businesses need to be encouraged to report crime as soon as it happens.”
